Contact the Winter Activities Coordinator here. OCEY runs a lively winter activity program, with multi-day events, a Saturday ski/snowshoe bus, snowshoeing on Sundays, and weekday skating and skiing/snowshoeing outings. The goal is to provide something for everyone who wants to enjoy the snow and ice! Our multi-day events are opportunities to get out of the city (and sometimes the province) to ski, snowshoe and skate. They are posted on the website, with most opening for registration in the spring, summer or fall. The activities, cost, and accommodation depend on the location, but we try to make sure that every event is not only fun, but affordable and open to as many people as possible. The ski/snowshoe bus heads to cross country ski resorts on Saturdays between January and March. There are three pick up/drop off points - 1967 Ellesmere Rd. (Scarborough), York Mills subway station (Yonge and York Mills) and the commuter parking lot at Highway 400 and King Rd. The bus leaves the third pickup point at 8:45 am and departs for the city between 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Check the OCEY Updater and the events on the right of this page for details, including price. Participants must register and pay online ahead of time. We have a snowshoe outing to a wilderness area or park close to Toronto most Sundays, starting around 10:00 am and wrapping up by about 3:00 pm. There’s no charge, but participants must register through the website. We encourage drivers and passengers to use the Car Pool page on the website to arrange transportation. Weekday ski/snowshoe events take place at venues within or close to the city, such as Sunnybrook Park and Hardwood Hills. Participants make their own trail fee arrangements and can organize transportation through the Car Pool page. There are many excellent skating rinks and paths in the GTA, and weather permitting, we go skating every week, often followed by a pub or coffee shop stop. Keep an eye on the OCEY Updater and the events on the right of this page for details about all these winter activities. If you have an idea for an event you would like to organize, please contact winter@ocey.ca. See you on the trail or rink! | Upcoming events
