A scenic ride.  The first 8 km follows the old Toronto, Hamilton & Buffalo Railway line before it joins the bed of the Lake Erie & Northern Electric Railway for the remaining 40 plus km to Port Dover.

The Lake Erie and Northern Railway

Highlights:

  • the Black Bridge over the Waterford Ponds
  • Following the Lynn River down the Lynn Valley to Port Dover and going back up on the return!
  • Taking in the Lake Erie shore while eating fish and chips or an ice cream on the Port Dover Pier
  • miles of trail

Level:  challenging on crushed stone and paved trails -- conditions vary along the route. Riding at a brisk pace, averaging more than 20 km/h. Distance -- 100 km. Bring a spare inner tube -- just in case. Lots to water. And pack a lunch.

BTW. If you are interested in the ride, think you can handle the pace, but are not sure about doing 100 km. There is an option of starting the ride at a different point, shortening it, and still getting the highlights. Let Neil know by email if you would like to do this.

Meet: at 8.30 a.m. in the parking lot next to the Scotiabank at 340 Colborne St W, Brantford, ON N3T 1M2

Directions: Head to the parking lot on the east side of the intersection of Colborne St West and Veterans Memorial Parkway, on the western edge of Brantford. The fastest way there may be to take the Hwy 24 exit from the 403. See map link below.
